Dr Lakshmi Ravikanti

Gynaecologist, Laparoscopic and Pelvic Floor Surgeon

Dr Ravikanti is a graduate of Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad, India. She moved to New Zealand in 1996 in search of a better lifestyle. She completed all her postgraduate training in New Zealand and was awarded the Fellowship of Royal Australia New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Dec 2007. She was then appointed as consultant in O&G at Waikato Hospital, Hamilton, New Zealand and started her practice at Anglesea Gynaecology at the same time.

She was awarded the prestigious Young Gynaecologist Award by Asia Oceania Federation of O&G in 2009. She is particularly interested the field of Laparoscopic surgery, Endometriosis, Pelvic floor issues and General gynaecology. Dr Ravikanti is a training supervisor for the advanced fellowship training programme under the auspices of Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery Society (AGES). Dr Ravikanti has also worked as a fertility specialist at Fertility Associates since 2007.

Dr Ravikanti easily empathises with her patients, having personally suffered from endometriosis and enduring 3 cycles of IVF before falling pregnant with her son.

She has a keen interest in research and presented a number of papers at National and International level.

Dr Ved Prakash Singh

Dr Ved Prakash Singh (VP) is a graduate of University Of Bombay, India. He considers himself fortunate to have been mentored by great pioneers in Laparoscopic Surgery and IVF during his formative years in the 90s. After a stint as Senior Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at University of Bombay and Senior Registrar at National Women’s Auckland and Waikato Hospital, he was appointed as a Consultant in O&G at Waikato Hospital and Fertility Associates Hamilton in 2001.

VP is highly passionate about gynaecological surgery particularly laparoscopic surgery. He set up an advanced laparoscopic training programme under the auspices of RANZCOG and AGES. VP is the Training Director of this programme based at Waikato Hospital and Anglesea Gynaecology. He has mentored many gynaecologists who have gone on to become trainers themselves.
VP is well recognised nationally and internationally for his expertise in laparoscopic surgery, endometriosis, pelvic pain and pelvic floor surgery. He believes in constant learning, innovation and collaboration in order to deliver the best care to his patients.

Dr Deirdré Rohlandt

Gynaecologist

Dr Deirdré Rohlandt is a graduate of the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. She moved to New Zealand in 1995 on a working holiday and fell in love with the country. After completing her specialist training on the South Island, Deirdré finally settled in Hamilton.

Deirdré worked for the DHB for many years as a Specialist, with some time spent as Clinical Unit Leader. Her passions were undergraduate and postgraduate training, and she held an honorary lecturer position with the University of Auckland, and completed her certificate in Clinical Education. Deirdré also held the position of Training Supervisor and Mentor for junior doctors, highlighting one of her core values: compassion in healthcare.

Deirdré is now focussed on providing patient-centred care with a holistic focus. Working in private practice provides her with the freedom to spend more time with patients and she finds the continuity of care very gratifying.

Deirdré provides gynaecological consultations, colposcopies and urodynamics. She is committed to ongoing education and training to widen and deepen her scope to enable better patient care and more in depth knowledge around her specific interests, including menopause and vulval health.

Donna Ore

Practice Manager and Nurse

Donna joined the team as the Practice Nurse in June 2014. Her role has since shifted to Practice Manager, where she is responsible for managing the team and the day-to-day operations of the busy practice. Donna still carries out her nursing duties, coordinates surgical bookings for the specialists and provides support to the team with any jobs they require assistance with. She is incredibly proud to be part of a caring, professional and supportive team.  

Kendra Hansen

Practice Nurse

Joining the team in April 2019 as the Practice Nurse, Kendra’s role is varied and is always evolving as our practice expands. She provides hands-on patient care and assists the three specialists with their clinics, as well as acts as a chaperone. She also handles patient queries, follows up on patient results, manages the surgical equipment, and processing referrals to the practice. You may also see her helping out at the front desk when required.

Melissa Lambert

Surgical Administrator

Melissa joined the team in June 2014 as a full-time receptionist. As the practice has grown, Mel stepped into the role of Surgical Administration / Receptionist in 2021, where her range of responsibilities continues to expand while still assisting the team with various administrative tasks. She thrives on the challenge that each day brings and loves being part of such a dynamic team.

Robyn Ballard

Account Manager

Robyn joined Anglesea Gynaecology as the sole administrator and receptionist over 20 years ago, and has delighted in seeing the practice grow from one doctor to three, with the support team growing from one person to six. She is currently working at the practice part-time and her role now involves finance management, overdue account management, and administration of surgical accounts.

Julie Bell

Receptionist

Julie joined Anglesea Gynaecology in 2021 to take over from Melissa as our full-time receptionist, when Melissa shifted into her busy role as our surgical administrator. She comes with extensive experience - including 20 years in pharmacy - and loves being part of our patient-centric, caring and supportive team.

Natasha Metcalfe

Typist

Natasha has worked with the team for several years as a medical typist. She currently works offsite, and is responsible for all typing all of the practice’s correspondence.
