Vulvodynia
This refers to pain at the vulva for at least 3 months in duration wherein the cause is unknown.
Symptoms
- Pain in the vulva
- Burning or stinging sensation
- Pain at the vulva on touch
Treatment
- Avoiding soap, shower gels, bubble baths, deodorant and wipes on this area
- Applying local anaesthetic to numb the area
- Medications: Amitriptyline, Nortriptyline, Gabapentin, Pregabalin
- Pelvic floor exercises
