Vulvodynia

This refers to pain at the vulva for at least 3 months in duration wherein the cause is unknown.

Symptoms

  • Pain in the vulva
  • Burning or stinging sensation
  • Pain at the vulva on touch

Treatment

  • Avoiding soap, shower gels, bubble baths, deodorant and wipes on this area
  • Applying local anaesthetic to numb the area
  • Medications: Amitriptyline, Nortriptyline, Gabapentin, Pregabalin
  • Pelvic floor exercises
