Asherman Syndrome

The presence of scar tissue called an Isthmocele inside the uterus or cervix.

Causes

Multiple surgeries in the uterus such as caesarean section, hysteroscopy and curettage after a miscarriage

Symptoms

• Lighter periods
• Bleeding in between periods
• Period pain
• Secondary infertility

Treatment

• Medical therapy to control the symptoms
• Surgical repair which can be done both hysteroscopically and laparoscopically
